Yahoo News, I generally put up with you for the sake of convenience, but this time… this time you’ve gone too far:
“Rowling will now share the same publisher with Stephenie Meyer, whose “Twilight” series at least partially filled the gap opened by the conclusion of the Potter stories.”
Pardoning the conversation about how Rowling sharing the same publisher as Meyer is even pertinent to the news story, this is such blatant editorializing that it cannot be considered sound journalism. You do not get to make conclusions about a demographic, not founded in evidence, based on speculation of intersecting audiences.
Filled the gap? The Twilight series did nothing but encourage the worst traits in its readers and was an unhealthy blip on the Young Adult radar. I don’t even hate Twilight as much as many of my friends do, I just think this is a shit comparison.
